Food Safety

Our Labs

One of the fundamental pillars in La Unión is Food Safety, so much of the investment in R&D is directed to our three laboratories. The utmost care for the quality and food safety of our products has positioned La Unión as the leading company in the field of Food Safety in the agro sector, carrying out more than 45,000 annual analyses in our laboratories.

The Chemical and Microbiological Analysis laboratory at La Unión was created in the year 2000, given the need to carry out phytosanitary tests to guarantee the safety of all our products. It has in its facilities advanced technologies for the determination of residues of pesticides in fruit and vegetables (it analyses up to a total of 300 pesticides in a same analytical test). All tests are carried out by a 14-strong team of professionals.

Accreditations and Competencies

La Unión is accredited by ENAC (National Accreditation Body), as it has been since 2006, and has a quality department that ensures the technical validity of tests, in accordance with the requirements set out in the regulation UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025. In addition, it is an authorised laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries under regulation No. A-191- AU.
In order to improve the quality of our products and offer a more complete service to our farmers, in 2008 we expanded our commercial activity by creating an Agronomic Analysis Laboratory to perform agronomic analyses (microelements and macroelements, pH, conductivity, total nitrogen, phosphorus , organic matter, etc.) on agricultural plantations. The following tests are carried out:

Ground
Foliar Analysis
Nutrition Solutions
Irrigation water, well, pools, etc.

We are committed to the quality of our products

In 2009 we created a Laboratory of Microbiological Analysis in which we perform analyses in:

Foods. Controlling the following microorganisms: aerobic mesophiles, enterobacteriaceae, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella and moulds and yeasts.

Land. Controlling the following microorganisms: aerobic mesophiles, enterobacteriaceae, Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria monocytogenes and moulds and yeasts.

Air. Controlling the following microorganisms: moulds and yeasts.
Water. Controlling the following microorganisms: mesophilic aerobes, coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus and Clostridium perfringens.
